Who can tell me what aircraft this is? Here’s a clue, it was one of the earliest swept-wing jet fighters to see combat and it became famous in the skies over Vietnam.

The Grumman Wildcat wasn’t flashy but it was tough. It flew from US Navy carriers early in World War Two and survived battles like Coral Sea and Midway thanks to heavy armour and self sealing fuel tanks. A true Pacific workhorse.
