Colorized vintage postcard showing the U.S. Airplane Landing Field and Hangar at North Platte, Nebraska, during the early airmail era. A large white hangar dominates the center-right of the image, with bold black lettering reading “U.S. Air Mail Station” above the larger words “North Platte.” The hangar features a curved roof and several windows, with support braces extending along the exterior walls. To the left stands a tall wooden observation or control tower with cross-braced supports and a glass-enclosed lookout room at the top. A small white building, likely staff housing or an administrative office, sits further left. On the right side of the scene are two tall radio or communication towers constructed of lattice steel. Additional beacon and lighting structures are visible atop and around the hangar complex. The foreground consists of an open grassy airfield, while the background shows a bright blue sky filled with scattered white clouds. Printed along the bottom border is the caption: “U. S. Airplane Landing Field and Hangar, North Platte, Nebr.” The postcard documents one of the important stops along the transcontinental airmail route in the United States during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
