"Al-Shamie" is an unusual (but not unique) spelling of the common Syrian surname Shami (ie "Syrian"). Which makes me raise at least one eyebrow at this 2012 interview with then-Tory MP John Howell:

De Britse politie heeft de naam vrijgegeven van de man die zij verantwoordelijk acht voor de aanval op een synagoge in Manchester donderdagmiddag. Het zou gaan om de 35jarige Jihad AlShamie. Bij de aanval kwamen twee mensen om het leven. Ook de vermoedelijke dader is doodgeschoten.

Counter-terrorism police are expected to investigate whether Shamie previously made death threats to John Howell, who was the Conservative MP for Henley until last year. He had received threatening emails in 2012 after he spoke about Israel's right to defend itself when it came under fire. One of those who made threats was a “Jihad Alshamie”, who told him: “It is people like you who deserve to die.”
