An old Dan Savage column has a similar letter from someone who grew up decades ago in Albama who 1) realized he was gay, 2) realizes he has to hide it, 3) realizes this logic applies to all the "straight" people around him, 4) concludes /everyone/ is gay and hiding it

I think I'm going to do a route shift, and if anyone from Kentucky can tell me if this is a bad idea or not, but I REALLY want to do astrophotography in Harlan County, Kentucky. Also NOLA because I never been.

Myself (Canadian), a coworker from Chicago and a coworker from Albama chatted about the Iraq invasion in 2003. After a civil but opposite sides discussion between me and the woman from Chicago, the woman from Alabama suddenly injected, "We should bomb them until their sand turns into glass!"
