Are you advocating for more #AlcoholProhibition? A policy that is loudly ignored, repealed, and never revisited is not often called a great success.

You could draw a through line straight to the #WarOnDrugs, with similar outcomes.

If you want something to cost 100x as much while being done worse, ask the government to do it.

If you want to spend 100x as much as it would cost to actually fix a problem while making sure it gets worse and never gets fixed, hire the government to fix it.
