Obviously outrageous, but any idea if this is typical in terms of the sort of “evidence” relied upon for the removal of AMCIT kids with their non-citizen parent?

Not disagreeing with @reichlinmelnick.bsky.social, but what is especially concerning is that both Rubio and Bukele specifically mention the option for sending AMCIT prisoners to El Salvador.
So this doesn't seem to have come from nowhere, but was rather included in Rubio's instructions.

Okay, but that's not a thing. I don't care what Bukele says, they cannot deport Americans. And I'm glad the AP didn't mince words or say something mealy-mouthed. It just is not legal under any law or any reading of any law or any even weird little quirk of any law. It's not a thing.

I talked to a friend that I don’t see that often and she said she understood why Trump won because he had clear economic policies and hated identity politics. She is an over educated single mom, 1st Gen AmCit, & actually used the word illegals and said they were taking stuff from her son

They can't deport an American citizen. It was kidnapping and human trafficking. We have to call it what it is. (If you're talking about the amcit kids they "deported." If not, they did it without due process, and it's still kidnapping and human trafficking)

Don't know what the current research is, but in the 90s/00s research on AmCit Hispanic attitudes towards nonAmCit Hispanics showed a whole "pull the ladder up/slam the door shut" behavior via jury trials with AmCit/nonAmCit defendents and Hispanic jurors.

Another commenter noted this, but a citizen (“anchor baby”) has to be 21 to sponsor parents for a green card. Having an AmCit child does not automatically confer legal status on undocumented or visiting parents. Anchor babies are thus kind of a myth.
