Amaco is discontinuing their Cosmic Tea Dust/Oil Spot/Gold Spot and Stardust glazes, along with their entire Shino line due to material shortages. 🧶

Absolutely devastated that my favorite ceramic glaze of all time - Amaco Cosmic Tea Dust - is being discontinued due to issues sourcing raw materials.

I have no idea if this is due to the war, tariffs, whatever. If anyone has any spare pints/jars around, let me know and I'm happy to pay.

AMACO Rub ’n Buff is a classic wax-based metallic finish—not a liquid paint—that has been used for crafts, frame gilding, and restoration since the 1970s.

I heard Coyote's Shino line was pretty nice. Maybe I'll try that one out.

For now, I'll wait on that big order of AMACO Shino glazes to come in the mail. My budget is shot after ordering them.. I hate having to panic buy stuff like that..

Well, there's Rub N Buff gold wax from AMACO, but I assume you've looked at that already. Shiny metal is difficult, and a lot of people use thin sheets of metal adhered with something like gum arabic. Some metal sheets come with adhesive, like Bare-Metal Foil (www.bare-metal.com)

Testing "brass" glazes for a commission clockwise from top vintage gold, seaweed, palladium, antique brass, saturation gold (amaco except a.b. is mayco). Saturation gold was the winner!

Crystalline glazes are a bit finicky, but they are so very cool!! Dark Star from the AMACO Cosmos series is my favorite so far! I love the metallic stars.

A singular kurinuki cup.
I used one coat of two glazes and a texturizer. The outcome was this beautiful matte coloration.
The two glazes were Ancient Jasper and Textured Turquoise, both AMACO glazes.
