Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) now available as a skill in the Agent Toolkit for AWS
Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) is now available as a specialized database skill in the Agent Toolkit for AWS. With this skill, AI coding agents can set up, manage, migrate, optimize, and troubleshoot Amazon DocumentDB clusters using step-by-step best-practice workflows, reducing errors and helping developers move faster without needing to look up DocumentDB operations guidance manually. The Amazon DocumentDB skill covers seven workflows: cluster provisioning, schema design, MongoDB compatibility assessment, DMS-based migration with change data capture, performance tuning, a 41-check well-architected review, and major version upgrades. When paired with the AWS MCP Server, agents can execute AWS CLI commands and run diagnostic queries with IAM-based guardrails, CloudTrail audit logging, and sandboxed execution. The skill also works standalone via the AWS CLI for teams that prefer local execution. The Amazon DocumentDB skill is available at no additional charge as part of the Agent Toolkit for AWS. To get started, see the Amazon DocumentDB skill on GitHub or browse the Agent Toolkit Quick Start guide. For more information about Amazon DocumentDB, see the Amazon DocumentDB Developer Guide.

🆕 Amazon DocumentDB (MongoDB) now has a new query planner (PlannerVersion 2.0) that boosts query speed up to 10x, optimizes index plans, and simplifies syntax. Available in all supported regions without downtime.

#AWS #AmazonDocumentdb
Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) announces upgraded query planner that can run queries up to 10x faster
Today, Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) announces a new query planner, featuring advanced query optimization capabilities and improved performance. PlannerVersion 2.0 for Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) 5.0 delivers up to 10x performance improvement over the prior version when using find and update operators with indexes. Performance improvements primarily come from using more optimal index plans and enabling index scan support for operators such as negation operators ($neq, $nin) and nested $elementMatch. PlannerVersion 2.0 queries run faster through better cost estimation techniques, optimized algorithms, and enhanced stability. PlannerVersion 2.0 also simplifies query syntax. For example, you no longer need to provide explicit hints for $regex queries to utilize indexes. PlannerVersion 2.0 is available in all AWS Regions where Amazon DocumentDB 5.0 is supported. You can enable it by simply modifying the corresponding parameter in your cluster parameter group. The change does not require a cluster restart or cause any downtime. If needed, you can easily revert to using the legacy query planner. To learn more about the new query planner, see Getting Started with New Query Planner.

Amazon DocumentDB now supports Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6)
Amazon DocumentDB now offers customers the option to use Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) addresses on new and existing clusters. Customers moving to IPv6 can simplify their network stack by running their databases on a dual-stack network that supports both IPv4 and IPv6. IPv6 increases the number of available addresses and customers no longer need to manage overlapping IPv4 address spaces in their VPCs (Virtual Private Cloud). Customers can standardize their applications on the new version of Internet Protocol by moving to dual-stack mode (supporting both IPv4 and IPv6) with a few clicks in the AWS Management Console or directly using the AWS CLI. Amazon DocumentDB is a fully managed, native JSON database that makes it simple and cost-effective to operate critical document workloads at virtually any scale without managing infrastructure. Amazon DocumentDB support for IPv6 is generally available on version 4.0 and 5.0 in AWS Regions listed in https://docs.aws.amazon.com/documentdb/latest/developerguide/vpc-clusters.html#dual-stack-availability. To learn more about configuring your environment for IPv6, please refer to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/documentdb/latest/developerguide/vpc-docdb.html.
