The cumulative mining deforestation footprint in the Amazon was over 2 million hectares (est. 5 mill acres) - an increase of over 50% in the past six years.

This is one of several findings in the latest MAAP report by Amazon Conservation using 2024 data from #AmazonMiningWatch
