Amazon QuickSight launches Layer Map, a new geospatial visual with shape layer support. With Layer Maps you can visualize data using custom geographic boundaries, such as congressional districts, sales territories, or user-defined regions. For example, sales managers can visualize sales performance by custom sales territories, and operations analysts can map package delivery volumes across different zip code formats (zip 2, zip 3). Authors can add shape layer over a base map by uploading GeoJSON file and join it with their data to visualize values. AWS announces the Confluence Data Center data source connector for Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base, a fully managed retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) service. Customers running self-hosted Confluence Data Center instances can now crawl blogs and pages from their Confluence spaces directly into their managed knowledge base. Previously, bringing Confluence Data Center content into Bedrock Knowledge Bases required building custom ingestion pipelines—now, you provide your instance credentials, and the connector handles data crawling, metadata extraction, and incremental sync automatically. The Confluence Data Center connector gives your AI agents access to the institutional knowledge your teams already maintain in Confluence, including wiki pages and blog posts across spaces. You can use filters to scope crawls to specific spaces or content types, ensuring only relevant content is ingested and keeping your knowledge base focused and cost-efficient. AWS announces the availability of TwelveLabs Marengo 3.0 as an embedding model in Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base, enabling customers to create multimodal embeddings for video, audio, and image content. Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base already supports media search by transcribing audio and video to text and generating text-based embeddings—Marengo 3.0 goes further by encoding visual scenes, speech, and video cues directly into multimodal embeddings, capturing meaning that transcription alone cannot. Simply upload your media assets from data sources such as Amazon S3, sync, and search using natural language—with no infrastructure to manage. Marengo 3.0 produces compact 512-dimensional vectors, delivering state-of-the-art retrieval accuracy. Results include segment start and end times, enabling applications to jump directly to the relevant moment in a video. This unlocks use cases across sports analytics, media and entertainment, security, education, and retail—from finding specific plays across seasons of game footage to locating lecture segments by concept rather than keywords. Amazon QuickSight Enterprise Edition customers can now load up to 2 billion rows of data into Super-fast Parallel In-memory Calculation Engine (SPICE) datasets. Amazon QuickSight now offers Highcharts visuals, enabling authors to create custom visualizations using the Highcharts Core library. This new feature extends your visualization capabilities beyond QuickSight's standard chart offerings, allowing you to create bespoke charts such as sunburst charts, network graphs, 3D charts and many more. Using declarative JSON syntax , authors can configure charts with greater flexibility and granular customization. You can easily reference QuickSight fields and themes in the JSON using QuickSight expressions. The integrated code editor includes contextual assistance features, providing autocomplete and real-time validation to ensure proper configuration. To maintain security, the Highcharts visual editor prevents the injection of CSS and JavaScript. Users can now clean, transform, and combine data in multi-step workflows—appending tables, aggregating data, executing flexible joins, and other advanced operations that previously required custom programming or SQL commands. Users can easily track data transformations step-by-step, enhancing traceability and shareability. With the ability to utilize datasets as a source expanded from 3 to 10 levels, teams can build reusable transformation logic that cascades across departments. This integration enables teams to generate comprehensive research reports as part of automated, multi-step workflows, transforming research projects into reusable workflows that can be shared across their organization. Quick Suite is Amazon's new AI-powered workspace that helps organizations get answers from their business data and move quickly from insights to action. With this integration, teams can trigger research automatically within their flows rather than conducting separate analysis. This addresses a critical productivity challenge by enabling teams to capture and scale proven research methods across hundreds of automated use cases. The integration also allows users to automate research workflows through scheduled triggers so users can set up flows that automatically generate research at specific times. Common use cases include automated account plan creation, standardizing product compliance analysis, and scheduled industry reports. Amazon QuickSight is excited to announce the launch of Unique Key for Dataset, enabling users to define additional aspects of their data semantics. The unique key will be used to improve performance for QuickSight visuals, especially un-aggregated table charts. Previously, to maintain table pagination stability, all columns in the table visual were sorted, which was an expensive query causing performance latency. Now, with the unique key defined in the dataset, once the column is used in the visual, users will automatically experience improved sorting performance without compromising user behavior. Quick Sight in Amazon Quick now supports sparklines, enabling authors to embed compact, inline trend visualizations directly within table cells. Sparklines allow users to display line or area charts inside individual table columns, providing at-a-glance trend context alongside their data without requiring separate chart visuals. Authors can add sparklines to tables by configuring a metric with a date dimension, and Quick automatically renders a miniature trend line within each row. This enhancement helps organizations quickly identify patterns, anomalies, and directional trends within tabular data — such as revenue over time by product, weekly ticket volumes by team, or monthly utilization by region — without navigating away from the table view. Sparklines support customization options including visual type (line or area), line color, line interpolation (linear, smooth, or stepped), and Y-axis behavior (shared or independent scaling across rows), giving authors flexibility to tailor the visualization to their dashboard's needs.
