Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now supports PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 in the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment
Starting today, https://aws.amazon.com/rds/postgresql/ 19 Beta 4 is available in the https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/create-db-instance-in-preview-environment.html, allowing you to evaluate the pre-release of PostgreSQL 19 on Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 refines the query performance and autovacuum management capabilities introduced in earlier releases and includes bug fixes and stability improvements since Beta 3. Fixes include pg_stat_autovacuum_scores view reporting for TOAST tables and corrected freeze-score scaling so you can tune autovaccum prioritization effectively. Parallel autovacuum now shares a rebalanced cost limit across its workers to keep maintenance on large tables within your configured limits. Refer to the https://www.postgresql.org/about/news/postgresql-19-beta-4-released-3386/ for more details. Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment database instances are retained for a maximum period of 60 days and are automatically deleted after the retention period. Amazon RDS database snapshots that are created in the Preview Environment can only be used to create or restore database instances within the Preview Environment. You can use the PostgreSQL dump and load functionality to import or export your databases from the Preview Environment. Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment database instances are priced as per the https://aws.amazon.com/rds/postgresql/pricing/ in the US East (Ohio) Region.

Amazon RDS now provides visibility into IAM DB Authentication metrics and logs
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/UsingWithRDS.IAMDBAuth.htmlhttps://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/UsingWithRDS.IAMDBAuth.html (IAM DB Auth) now provides enhanced observability through metrics and logs. It enables customers to investigate and resolve authentication issues when connecting to RDS databases. Database connection authentication issues can occur due to multiple reasons such as configuration or permission issues with your IAM policy, using expired tokens, throttling, etc. IAM DB Auth metrics and logs can help troubleshoot authentication issues caused due to all the above issues. Now you will also get visibility into error logs that help you get insights into user specific connection failures. IAM DB Auth metrics are available in Amazon CloudWatch automatically as long as IAM DB Authentication is enabled on your database instance or cluster. IAM DB Auth error logs can be exported to your CloudWatch Logs account via the https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_LogAccess.Procedural.UploadtoCloudWatch.html feature. Amazon RDS IAM DB Auth metrics and logs are supported by RDS for MySQL, RDS for MariaDB, RDS for PostgreSQL, Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition, and Aurora PostgreSQL-Compatible Edition. To get started with enabling Amazon RDS IAM DB Authentication, visit: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/UsingWithRDS.IAMDBAuth.Enabling.html and https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/UsingWithRDS.IAMDBAuth.Enabling.html. Amazon RDS extends IPv6 support for publicly accessible databases
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) now extends the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) support to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/gettingstartedguide/security-public-private.html#security-public, in addition to the existing support for privately accessible databases within a VPC. This allows you to configure dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) connectivity for your publicly accessible RDS and Aurora databases. https://aws.amazon.com/vpc/ipv6/ provides an expanded address space, enabling you to scale your application on AWS beyond the limitations of IPv4 addresses. With IPv6, you can assign easy to manage contiguous IP ranges to micro-services and can get virtually unlimited scale for your applications. Moreover, with support for both IPv4 and IPv6, you can gradually transition applications from IPv4 to IPv6, enabling safer migration. This feature is available in all AWS regions where IPv6 support for privately accessible RDS databases within a VPC is already available. Get started with the AWS CLI or https://console.aws.amazon.com/rds/home. To learn more about configuring your environment for IPv6, please refer to the https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/AuroraUserGuide/USER_VPC.WorkingWithRDSInstanceinaVPC.html.
