#Ambetter
I just got a $5000 bill in the mail for visiting the ER. I went in because I thought I was going to, or was having a heart attack. I’m fine, but now in debt. And yes, I have “health insurance” - Ambetter. I thought this bullshit was behind us!

Some bean counter fuck at AmBetter presumes to know better than my doctor which medication I need, and when called upon to justify this, they repeat blatant misinformation. Then I find out from my pharmacy, no one is prescribing Mounjaro anymore. None of their customers can get it anymore.

My doctor insists I need Mounjaro. I called my insurance company (AmBetter). They said that they don't prescribe Mounjaro because it's for weight loss, not diabetes. This is misinformation. Mounjaro is a diabetes medicine with weight loss as a side effect. ZepBound is the purely weight loss version.

I can’t tell you how much more joyfully I’d pass on $2500 per month to a universal public program than to the useless greedy fucks at Fidelis by Ambetter. Don’t think of it as a tax hike- you’re just redistributing it away from corporations and cutting out middlemen in the process

tbh, I'm just looking at what RFK and Oz has done to medicare. My mom went from having just about all of her care covered to me cleaning out my savings again to cover her copays

That's on top of Ambetter/Centene with HHS ending my healthcare completely, denying my diabetes meds because I'm trans

Centene
that owns Ambetter
(Scambetter)
health insurance ?
Figures 😏

It's also worth noting that 5 carriers are pulling out of the Florida individual market: Cigna (2 divisions; they're bailing nationally), Community Care Network, Molina Healthcare and Sunshine State...although Sunshine will transition enrollees over to their Ambetter (Centene) plans instead.

therapy today was just therapist and i sitting on phone/laptops and trying to find a place that will take my fucking insurance. Ambetter is so goddamn dogshit useless at this point I might actually have better access to healthcare if I cancel it

Anyone know if these member-feed URLs are legitimate? Genuinely can’t tell.

*screams because #ambetter dropped me for being trans on march 31st*
1. Good news: a federal court has restored gender-affirming care access for many trans adults!

The HHS rule, which cut coverage for trans adults on ACA plans, has been permanently struck down by George H.W. Bush appointee Nathaniel Gorton, who blasted the Trump administration's illegal actions.

4. But as that court fight dragged on, some insurance companies started caving to the federal pressure.

In November, Ambetter, the largest provider of ACA plans, cut coverage of gender-affirming care in 19 states—AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, NE, NH, NC, OH, OK, SC, and TN.

so just a heads up for any other trans folks in the arkansas/oklahoma/kansas/missouri area: ambetter, aetna, and bcbs are all starting to deny gender affirming care, down to standard hrt, for adults. the provider i spoke to said cigna and united medical resources are still good. for now.
just finished up a telehealth with planned parenthood and learned that my insurance is basically not covering any gender affirming care at all anymore. guess it's good i got my top surgery when i did but that means my hrt costs are about to triple.

Thank you, my irl job does offer health insurance but I didn’t know until after enrolling with Ambetter; hoping I can get on that next time.
August 11, 2026 at 11:14 PM
I hate ambetter with a burning passion and I hope you can find better insurance during open enrollment…I’m so sorry they’ve put you in this position
August 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM
I live in a civilized country, Canada where we have public healthcare

vs a barbaric country like America, where they have privatized healthcare for the rich peanuts for the rest at high price, and some insurance companies deny 32% of claims and avoid going to prison for fraud.
August 3, 2026 at 11:23 AM
Absolutely NO ONE could've predicted this!

Except for everyone who predicted this. I lost my ACA subsidy and now have substantially crappier insurance from a shitty insurance company (Ambetter, who are not better than anything).

I'm now retired and waiting to turn 65 so I can enroll in Medicare.

Insurers denied 85 million marketplace claims in 2024. Only 5% were about whether you actually needed the care. CMS has collected this data since 2015 and never once used it against an insurer, and Trump’s Labor Department has now paused the rule forcing plans to disclose mental health denial data.

#ambetter customer service doesn't know which doctors are in network or where they are located. suggest calling your provider first. you're welcome

but they are consistent. gave me same wrong info one year later.

Another 1 hour phone call to find out they have no record of a prior authorization I got approved for in March and got fixed in May. Despite giving them reference numbers.

Never use Ambetter.
