#Amotivated
"Our findings CHALLENGE the assumption that autistic people are socially unmotivated, consistent with calls for more accurate and useful autism research, embracing the unique nature of social interest in autism."

THIS. We are NOT antisocial! We're amotivated!
Autistic adults are at significantly increased risk of suicidality. We know this from many studies, but here's another:

72% of autistic adults scored significantly above the recommended cut-off for suicide risk in psychiatric populations

SIGNIFICANTLY higher than general population adults (33%)
Risk markers for suicidality in autistic adults - Molecular Autism
Background Research has shown high rates of suicidality in autism spectrum conditions (ASC), but there is lack of research into why this is the case. Many common experiences of autistic adults, such a...

Social constructed childbearing motivations and fertility intentions: "We propose socio-cognitive factors affect fertility intentions not directly but through the type of motivation they foster, whether intrinsic, extrinsic, or amotivated"

I did find a study that found that if someone is amotivated to play games then that is correlated with depression

But the casual direction there is likely that being depressed makes you amotivated to play games as a symptom than the other way around

Is life hard right now?

Do you feel empty?
Amotivated?
anhedonia?

Did you experience Trauma?
hypevigilance?
Do you disassociate?

Are you autistic?

Is there a cyclic rumination, a loop?
Health anxiety?
Checking behaviors?

Even if not OCD, are you obsessing and compulsing subclinically?

feeling hella amotivated to get myself off my ass and head to the gym tbh but I know I'll feel worse if I don't go

It’s not a case if it being hard, it’s actually impossible 99% of the time. I can’t even do things that I used to find very enjoyable.

Think of it like the worst inattentive amotivated ADHD you’ve ever seen, add in crippling schizotypal avolition and anhedonia beyond normal clinical experience

I will be in the look out for your preprint - if you have a model we can discuss more as we have some data in amotivated patients that may be useful to test the model on - thank you!

Disgustingly amotivated and certain it's a waste of my time (I will never have a job that makes me happy even if I follow this bout of school through to the end, I am just not wired that way) but. I have registered for the next semester of school.

I am on week four of this term and I don't know if I'm just blanket amotivated, overwhelmed because of the upcoming launch at work or bored as hell with the required classes but I don't care at all, and it's such a negative change from last term that I'm kind of bummed.

Ive been told by a non high level ai programmer that the theory amounts to a critical mas assumption. Increase data, increase processing nodes, and ... R2D2 will simply rise..from ...

I just dont think the amotivated "answer fits in format" .. paradigms works. They market to the pareidolia. But!

When someone is asking for a deadline, that tells us that they're currently Amotivated and they want at least some motivation. That deadline will shift us into External motivation which will at least get us moving forward, even if it's the least effective way possible.

Very true. As I get into the section discussing "need density hypothesis" and the amotivated-intrinsic group, I keep thinking of all the studies I've heard done with dark patterns and deliberately increasing addictive engagement... those didn't connect to SDT-based theory?
(or maybe not published?)
