Anaesthesia, antibiotics, chemotherapy, HRT, hip and knee replacements… the list is endless.

But we’re safe on leeches.

Yay, I am home from having my surgery. I’m in pain, but obviously that’s expected. I’m grateful that I had great surgeons and anaesthesia. ⚓️

A tangled tale of Montaigne, Pepys, nutrition and operations without anaesthesia!
A remarkable feature of medical history is the spontaneous rise of a disease followed later by its virtual disappearance - trends that can be difficult to understand.

Also, migrating testes.
And immune to anaesthesia.

The DM really gave up when overseeing that build.

The comparison to the anaesthesia research data faking guy is illuminating, in that you probably don't know that guys name even though he probably killed people.

You come home from work one day to a letter from the hospital in your postbox. It says they can reverse the “damage” caused by the anaesthesia with a short-course prescription.

You throw it away.

You’re in diapers forever now, just like you’re supposed to be.

With no anaesthesia
October 25, 2026 at 10:14 PM
It was supposed to be a routine, out patient procedure, but you woke up with a catheter and then they sent you home with a pack of diapers… It’s been two weeks now and the “side effects” of the anaesthesia still haven’t worn off. What are you going to do?! Are you stuck like this forever?

Proper apples and pears situation!

The original post is a well-intentioned and light-hearted comparison of different workloads in anaesthesia, but the person who responded probably took offence 😅.

I mean, come on...

Using a drone that docks at the window, a hospital in the German city of Kassel will be able to transport tissue samples between hospital sites for testing.

The result? Tissue samples can be tested during live surgeries and reduce the time patients are under anaesthesia.

Not an accident per se, but I got all 4 of my back wisdom teeth extracted in high school. Local anaesthesia.

They had to saw thru my teeth to pull them out and it smelled horrible. And while I didn’t feel everything when they pulled em out, I felt enough.

0/10, would not recommend.

also i had a much better time with the anaesthesia this time round but i did have a weird after effect where my whole body was shaking a TON, like whole bed shaking, and that was apparently because that anaesthetic lowers your core body temp so it was trying to warm me back up! violently!
