It might be common across Europe, but it's still a stunning looking moth to see - my first of the year! - Angleshades - Phlogophora meticulosa. - moth-trapping at Casa Athene, Vejer de la Frontera, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 28th of March 2026. And an awful lot rarer - a speciality of this site and mostly a day flyer - the only site I have seen it. The tiny Idaea nexata - moth-trapping at Casa Athene, Vejer de la Frontera, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 28th of March 2026. A trap with a great view at dusk, with the sun setting over the Atlantic! - moth-trapping at Casa Athene, Vejer de la Frontera, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 28th of March 2026.

Part 4 - Moth-trapping at Huerta Grande, Pelayo, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 5th of October 2025. Photos are; Oxybia transversella & Small Angleshades - see alt button for details in photos #teammoth #spanishmoths www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...
A shiny fresh Oxybia transversella definitely is! - moth-trapping at Huerta Grande, Pelayo, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 5th of October 2025. And what do you think of the different colours of Small Angleshades - Euplexia lucipara, in the south of Spain? - when compared with those from Northern Europe? - moth-trapping at Huerta Grande, Pelayo, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 5th of October 2025. This is the morning view from the boardwalk trap across the Straits to Jebel Musa! Jebel Musa and Morocco are nowhere to be seen behind this mist/low cloud! A very different damp and humid feel to the place from the night before! - moth-trapping at Huerta Grande, Pelayo, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 5th of October 2025.

I made a friend while pulling weeds. From what I can gather they are an Angle Shades moth, Phlogophora meticulosa.

The moth year is hotting up (relatively) including the common but impressive Angleshades and a Tufted Tortrix (Acleris cristana) which is less than annual for me.
