Electric eels are only distantly related to true eels (Anguilliformes) and are in fact a type of knifefish (Gymnotiformes) most closely related to catfish.

Until recently, there was only one species, "Electrophorus electricus". Two news species designations are E. voltai and E. varii.
It's Friday. You made it through you week. You deserve a treat, right?

Of course you do!

So here. Pease enjoy this lesson in the biology of the electric eel (which isn't actually an eel)

When an eel is a fish that likes water brackish

Since Chester A. Arthur was 6 foot 2 inches in height, then that makes this eel more than 12 feet long, which according to the PBS Eel Fact Sheet, makes it likely a large moray eel

I missed Eelday like an absolute doofus! So this sundayfishsketch I make up for it. Have these two very underappreciated anguilliformes: Neocyema erythrosoma (orange) and Cyema atrum (green), the bobtail snipe eels

I vote we make “eel” the word for the morphotype of long fish, like “tree” is for big woody plants. who decided that the best use of the term ‘eel’ was being a synonym for anguilliformes?

Going to hold an event where ray-finned fish of the order Anguilliformes dress up in stylish outfits that accentuate masculinity or femininity. It's a gender rizz eel party.

Also, I looked up the source for this one (bless you quotebot for having a sources doc in your bio) and discovered to my delight that it's from a Garak/Bashir fic, so I guess I know what I'm reading later. :D

(Bashir was one of the early inspirations for B'alith)
