Four residents have been killed and two others seriously injured after unidentified gunmen attacked two communities in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident occurred around 1:30am on Wednesday, September 23, in Godoro and Angwan-Bisala communities, both located in Katako District. According to the Niger State Police Command, the attackers stormed the communities during the early hours of the day and opened fire on residents.

The Niger State Police Command has arrested two men accused of impersonating military personnel and assaulting a laundry attendant in Suleja over a missing mobile phone. The suspects, identified as Abraham Ashiwel and Michael Okonkwo, were apprehended following an incident on August 8 at a laundry shop in Angwan-Gwari, Suleja. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the men stormed the shop and physically assaulted the attendant after claiming a phone was missing.

The Niger State Police Command has arrested two men accused of impersonating military personnel and allegedly assaulting a laundry attendant in the Suleja area of the state over a missing mobile phone. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects, identified as Abraham Ashiwel and Michael Okonkwo, both of Bakassi area, Suleja, were arrested after they allegedly stormed a laundry shop in Angwan-Gwari area of Suleja on August 8. He explained that the suspects assaulted the shop attendant over an alleged missing phone before operatives of ‘B’ Division, Suleja, commenced investigation and arrested them.

Amnesty International has condemned a deadly attack by gunmen on the Irigwe community of Angwan Magaji in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which left nine people dead and 11 others injured. The attack occurred late on June 16, 2026, according to the human rights organisation. Amnesty International said two of those killed were children aged five and four, respectively. The organisation added that several victims were brutally killed, while three women were reportedly attacked in their homes during the night-time assault. Search efforts were continuing for residents who remained missing following the attack, Amnesty International said.
