Earl Grey ParTEA: scalable, consistent transposable element annotation from pangenomes to deep phylogenetic scopes
Transposable elements (TEs) are major drivers of genomic diversity, yet understanding their mobility and functional impact requires their accurate description in genomes. TE annotation is still typica...

I once found a student's annotation in The Great Gatsby on a page with one of the party scenes: “When are the cops gonna roll up on this shit?”
got this at the used bookstore and lol

Love! I did social annotation with my students and they always loved it! We did it specifically with rap lyrics & poetry in my hip hop feminism & poetry course. Currently writing an article on it for a pub!
I’m playing w annotation approaches in a class on digital tech history+theory. Instead of using formal annotation tools, we’re using Canva/Google Slides for digital annotations. Groups presented their work today, reflecting on their close readings+processes and WOW they were all so creative+unique

Annotation, the unloved steptask of ML/AI, still matters. Annotation models can help you get it right.

I have released a new addon called INKit.

It is the Annotation Workflow I always wanted.
It lets you annotate or blockout-paint on a 3D View in Blender, but from an iPad with Apple Pencil, or from an Android tablet with an active stylus.

The added follow up to this hilarious/🤯/😡 thread is whether you are using the right genome annotation to study your “species” molecular components, or maybe it also means you could use an annotation that’s more appropriate than you think. #proteomics
hey biology bsky, i'm crowdsourcing for a slide in class. reply to this with your best attempt to succinctly but comprehensively define the concept of "species" in a single skeet.
