#Antaak
One thing I really appreciate about #StarTrekEnterprise is it giving us Klingon characters outside the warrior caste. J.G. Hertzler plays Advocate Kolos in "Judgment", and John Schuck plays healer Antaak in a 3-episode arc. Some really outstanding world-building, not to mention great performances.

Happy birthday to John Schuck, the Klingon Ambassador in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home & Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Parn in Deep Space Nine's "The Maquis, Part II," a chorus member on Voyager ("Muse"), and Antaak on Enterprise ("Affliction," "Divergence").

Anyone decrying woke is a culturally illiterate reactionary who doesn’t actually understand Trek. Dr. Antaak on the Enterprise series was a Klingon doctor. So a young Klingon Medical student hardly violates canon. 🖖

Finally? FINALLY? This is Antaak erasure and I will not stand for it. memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Antaak
Antaak
Antaak was a Klingon physician in the Imperial Fleet whose field of study was in metagenic research in the 22nd century. Born into the warrior caste, his father disowned him from the House of Antaak w...

Definitely not the first one; the most obvious example is Antaak in Enterprise as a Klingon with blonde hair, but even before that, e.g. Gorkon in Star Trek VI is not any darker skinned than Kirk when we see him in a properly lit set.

John Schuck, who played transgender Miami city councilman Gil Kessler, was also two different Klingons and a Cardassian, and made an appearance on Voyager too.

Two of the Klingon actors are well known as other Klingons elsewhere in Trek.

The Klingon prisoner at the start is Marc Worden. He was the oldest version of Worf's son Alexander.

Dr Antaak was played by John Shuck - well known as the Klingon Ambassador in Voyage Home & Undiscovered Country.

*Correction: Antaak is in a two-parter. Not three.

I said a Klingon attending Starfleet Academy isn't as ridiculous as toxic fandom might have you believe.

I surmise the Klingon Empire not only has scientists:
They are GREAT scientists — who have been doing science for four centuries before meeting humanity in glorious combat.

Ten thousand apologies! I forgot about Antaak. I love the idea of Klingons scientists defending their thesis. "Lowly Peta'Q! Your research is a sham and your conclusions are not evidence based or peer reviewed! Shame on your house!"

Enterprise: Affliction, Divergence (S4, E15-16): ANTAAK: "We are a warrior caste. When I became a healer, my father disowned me."

His targ won't even recognize him.

I'd like to think both of John's Klingon characters are distantly related.

That Instagram is misinformed, clearly. Antaak and Kurak are two Klingon scientists.

The people that wrote that article haven't watched Star Trek enough. Honestly, neither have the current writers but I digress.

There have been several Klingons who weren't warrior types. Advocate Kolos, Chancellor Gorkon, Antaak, Valkris, etc. Plus, it's 1000 years in the future. Things change.

I hope that cute Klingon medical student on #StarfleetAcademy extols "the great Dr. B'Oraq of the IKS Gorkon!" @kradec.bsky.social

We can dream. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Antaak is mentioned.

not the first time, here's a pale Klingon with blond hair and blue eyes in "Enterprise" (before and after being hit with the augment virus)

This between Antaak and Phlox

"You stole it!"
"Medical research isn't a priority for the High Council – I am forced to obtain information however I can."
"That doesn't sound very honorable."
"Given the choice between honor and saving lives, I choose the latter."

Enterprise s4 ep16 Divergence thoughts:

That’s a neat little trick
Trip works better on Enterprise
Doctor Antaak is great
Malcolm needs to get his shit together
Stand your ground Phlox
I don’t trust him either, Archer
Sneaky trick from Phlox
Sure Trip. Temporarily

He's not the first non warrior Klingon we've seen, and I think all the better for that.

Ignoring the guy that runs the Klingon restaurant on DS9 what about Kurak who was an expert in the field of subspace morphology in TNG (Suspicions)?

Korath the scientist in Endgame (VOY)? Antaak? Colonel Worf?!
