TLDR (2/3):

These modern atrocities are not isolated incidents but are part of a continuum where perpetrators seek notoriety and inspire others through digital platforms.

Following the conviction of Axel Rudakubana, there have been calls to amend the legal definition of terrorism so that a motive is no longer required.

This piece by Alan Greene argues broadening the definition won't make it easier to apply: tinyurl.com/bdfkpksn

If you want assistance with any of this, I’m willing to volunteer to help and consult further. I have antiextremism/DEI background and I’m extremely interested in making sure this is, and remains, a safe place for Trans, Black, Disabled folks, and Sex Workers, at the *very least*.

I’d honestly suggest making two volunteer boards to help consult bsky and make recommendations - one of marginalized folks (including sex workers specifically) and one of T&S, antiextremism, and accessibility experts (ideally primarily marginalized ones) - to ensure that the company fixes concerns.

Honestly? Multiple trust and safety experts, accessibility experts, and antiextremism experts have offered to consult and assist BlueSky for free for months now because of the sheer desire to see BlueSky succeed and be a place safe for all of us. BlueSky fully ignored all of them, esp Black ones.

Ideally I’d be doing some kind of collaborative/outreach work or doing antiextremism research/analysis.

Realistically my experience sits in infosec/cybersecurity, specifically threat intelligence (studying hacker groups)

Honestly I’d do pretty much anything if remote and paid enough/trained.
