I don't dispute that the Salvation Army does good - providing food & shelter for the poor. But, they have a long history of anti-LGBT policies (see below). Current reports are that they are not as antigay now, but still oppose marriage equality.

Back in the aughts, when the main argument was still whether gay people should get to have rights, the SPLC labeled various antigay groups as hate groups, and conservatives sure did squeal about that too.
