Some employers ask applicants to record answers instead of speaking with an interviewer live. You read a question. A camera records your answer. Someone may review it later. CareerOneStop describes this as a one-way video interview. Unlike a live conversation, you may not know who will watch your answers or what will happen to the recording afterward. Try these questions: • Who will be able to view my recording? • Will anyone outside the hiring team have access? • How long will the recording be kept? • Will software be used to review or score it? • Can I request another interview format? • Whom can I contact if I have a technical problem? An employer may not be able to answer every question immediately. Asking does not guarantee a different process or a particular outcome. But the answers can help you decide how to proceed. Choose a place where you feel comfortable and where private information is not visible behind you. If you need another format, ask the hiring contact what options are available. You do not have to guess what the process allows. An interview is a chance to show your experience. It is also a chance to understand how your information will be handled.
