Announcing ArchaeOS, a speculative keepsake game made for the @archive.org DiscMaster jam by @mtrc.bsky.social and me!

The game asks you to interpret digital artefacts using a deck of cards, and is made exclusively with assets from DiscMaster.

Thread. And as an archaeo, i approve utterly of this kind of respect ( as i think almost all Irish archaeos do).
This is the way.
A few days ago, I stood in the graveyard of an 1100 year old church, getting damper and damper in the drizzling rain.

A woman walked into the graveyard, waved, said hello, and, as we had previously arranged, handed me a paper bag full of human bones.

The life of a churchwarden is a strange one...

As it turns out, @florencesn.bsky.social and @mtrc.bsky.social's ArchaeOS is pretty much a solo tabletop RPG about inscrutable artifacts and our relationship to a digital past that's actively eroding beneath our fingertips.

And it gives you printable zine!

My thoughts and wishes are with the forensic archaeos here. It's going to be brutal for many of them, but a massive service to all citizens. And to those who will finally rest as wee humans. Not rubbish chucked into a septic tank.
God bless them all.
"Research led by local historian Catherine Corless in 2014 indicated that 796 babies & young children were buried in the sewage system at the St Mary’s mother and baby home in #Tuam across that period."

What an appalling abuse of children.

1976 UK heatwave is it now? Gentle reminder that this masterpiece was filmed in the summer of 1976, scaring children shitless, and influencing a future generation of archaeos...

Thrilled to see this lovely piece on ArchaeOS that doesn't just vibe with the game but understands its inspirations - Chase is right that its essentially a solo ttrpg!
Also love the inclusion of an artefact interpretation, I get so excited seeing what people come up with!
