Since 1660, the county's main archive collections have been stored in just four #ArchivesBuildings, including our current home at the former Ernest Bailey school in Matlock.

The British Museum’s iconic building is known throughout the world but it’s had its fair share of upheaval & change. From the ‘new’ building in the 19th C, WWII damage, Great Court building & the Round Reading Room, it’s a special very place. #Archive30 #ArchivesBuildings #BritishMuseum #Archive

The first building on campus was the Administration Building, also called Old Main. We ran out of space almost immediately, so added wings on in the decade after its construction. This pic is from the paving of the areas around the building c. 1910 #ArchivesBuildings #Archive30

The oldest part of the building was constructed by 1914 and it's seen very many extensions over the years detailed in our blog buff.ly/j60EBZV

In 1920 Garden City champion Richard L Reiss outlined his ideas for housing reform to women of the YWCA - slum clearance, state housing & "keeping the beauty of the land", with "a chance for keen women"
