Encountered an ex-VR, now Arcticrail, Dr16 at Riihimäki station last month, while waiting for a train. Photography followed.

My first encounter with a Dr16 locomotive on 23.12. For most of my life these have been restricted to places I don't frequent in... but VR withdrew them from service and sold two to the newcomer company Arcticrail, who use them in south of Finland, so I could actually photograph one.

Finnish privateer rail operators apparently share a braincell.

- Fenniarail: a northern exotical word + rail in the name, plus a blue livery.
- North Rail: a northern exotical word + rail in the name, plus a blue livery.
-ArcticRail: a northern exotical word + rail in the name, plus a blue livery.

Vacation trainspotting, part 1: VR Sm6 Pendolino Plus, Arcticrail Dr16 with an empty timber train, VR Sr3 with an IC train and a VR Sr2 with an usual IC train: a single-decker restaurant normally used only in night trains these days and no control cab car.

I'm not a big fan of either of the two liveries VR gave these. But I'm not a fan of the Arcticrail livery either, the arches clash with the overall shape of the loco. I guess the original livery was the best, but it's still not great.

But I do like the fact AR kept the black window stripe.
