Our picture is a scenic view that captures a landscape where a field of lush greenery meets the sea under a vibrant, multi-colored sunset on the Arklow coast in Ireland. Our shot is divided into three distinct horizontal sections. In the foreground, there's a field overgrown with various plants, grasses, and ferns; the vegetation is a deep, shaded green. Moving towards the middle ground of the picture, the vegetation becomes shorter, allowing a distant view of the horizon where land meets the sea. The land is dotted with trees and what appears to be small buildings. The sea reflects the colours of the sky, blending into the horizon line. After a bus move from Wicklow, I had roughly an hour to look around Arklow. So quick walk through town, picked up a drink and then went and sat down by the harbour watching the fishing boats come in!

The picture shows a harbour scene taken in the Summer of 2017 in a place called Arklow on the South East coast of Ireland. Working from the bottom of our picture upwards we have the grey concrete of the walkway of the harbour cutting through at a 35° angle from left or right. Then we have a mixture of about 5 small fishing boats that are moored within the harbour right in front of us. They are a mixture of bright colours of whites,reds and blues. Their white antennas and radio masts pierce the sky and as we look closer, the harbour sweeps around from right to left with a whole host of other boats of similar sizes, colours and shapes. We can also see the opposing side of this giant dock with more boats that are moored and also small buildings that service the harbour. In the extreme far distance, we can just about make out the mountains that surround this Arklow coastal area. Above the entire scene is a flawless blue sky that is just the very lightest shade of blue at the horizon point. It then gets deeper and bolder in that gorgeous blue colour the further up the sky you go as we see it here. And finally, the whole scene is bathed in beautiful Summer sunlight with a white thin border frame to finish.

I grew up in Arklow #Ireland. The first 20 years of my life were spent in a town of 6,000 people. We knew everyone in the town, when we walked down main street we had to greet EVERYONE. So we reduced greetings to 'good' forget morning, afternoon or night. Just Good, only in Arklow. #Photography

After the picture description, l have written a small poem dedicated to our scene today… Our photograph captures a stunning sunset over a tranquil countryside scene in the beauty which is Arklow in Ireland. The sun, a brilliant orange orb, is just above the horizon, glowing warmly through layers of soft clouds. The sky transitions from a golden amber near the horizon to deep blue at the top, creating a serene gradient of colour. In the foreground, clusters of white flowering bushes catch the last light of the day, while a tall tree with dark, leafy branches frames the sunset on the left side. The overall mood of the image is peaceful and reflective…a perfect close to a quiet evening in nature and finally our picture is framed by a simple white border. And now for the poem for this capture. I call it….The Arklow Glow When day bends low to kiss the sea, And twilight hums its gentle plea, The hills of Arklow blush in flame, As sunlight whispers evening’s name. Through tangled leaves the embers gleam, A fleeting spark, a golden dream, The flowers sigh, the breezes slow, All bathed beneath the Arklow glow. When night drapes soft her velvet veil, And stars through silver silence sail, The fading sun, with tender grace, Leaves warmth and wonder in its place.

After my picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this scene. Our picture shows a breathtaking sunset over a quiet rural landscape in Arklow, Ireland. The sky is a smooth gradient that begins with deep purples and blues at the top and melts down into vivid pinks, warm oranges, and glowing yellows near the horizon. Silhouetted against this colourful backdrop are the dark outlines of trees, one large, full tree on the left and several smaller, sparser trees to the right. Their branches are black shapes against the light, giving the scene a calm but dramatic contrast. Near the upper right of the image, a thin white streak, likely a jet’s vapour trail, cuts diagonally across the sky, glowing slightly as it catches the last of the sun’s light. The overall mood is peaceful, warm, and quietly awe-inspiring, as if capturing a perfect, fleeting moment at the edge of day turning into nigh. And now my poem… I call it…. “The Last Light’s Whisper” Beneath the sky of fading fire, Where dusk unthreads the day’s desire, The trees stand still in silhouette, Like guardians of the sun’s regret. A silver streak drifts soft and high, A lonely thought across the sky, While colours bleed from gold to night, A whispered promise in the light. Here evening hums its gentle tune, A lullaby to greet the moon, And all the world, in hush and glow, Becomes a place where dreams can grow.
