POEM - A Plea To Whatever Is Transcendent
Whatever existsbeyond the corporealbeyondwhatever the outstretched armsof my imaginationcan inadequately touch uponwhether 'you' can even be you'dor gendered fluidlyI prey upon this with my mindpray for it with my heartand this minor souls bereft naturepleads, like a starving mansurrounded only by picturesof bread and winefor one vivid experienceof itso the achewith which this hiatusbores into the side of my stomachmight finally be settledand be soothedto at lastfeel at easewith the inherenthuman state of alonenessfor whatever I dowhatever I chose to believewhatever picture I wish to paintof the transcendentfeels a few sketchy linesskimmed across a pagea cartoon versionof divinityof omnipotent original causeconceptually aloof and alien to feelingall arisingout of a personal inadequacyfrom base greeda craving needto fill the gaping holein my fragile beliefwith a conveniently shapedplugwhich when bedraggled in doubtcan never be adequately filledanywayno wishes can be complied withintuitive sense informsme to not demand interventionadvance order a responsethrough arrogant temperjust align or not alignwhilst staying calmly benignif any of this is indeed trueand no delusionthen help me dream of it betterif this desire will be of benefittransform my sensestransform my visiontransform my mind and heartto be a fit receptaclefor small jewelsthe golden amuletsto bedeck my shrine withperfumed incenseto adorn the air with smokey swirlslight transient candlesto display the present way forward withfor my arms they are openand receptive forwhatever can be offeredin a kind act of reciprocitydo not remain hiddenany longerbefore my human timeand hence opportunityfor comprehensionfinally escapesthe cup of my fingers.Written by Stephen Lumb17th April 2025

He rosewhile it was still dark—not to flee,but to find. The world still sleeping,the stars still holding their breath,as he walked—into silence,into sky,into the armsof Presence. No one saw him go.No crowds followed.Only the windand the path beneath his feetkept him company. But there,in that unscheduled space,something holyreturned. Not fireworks.Not clarity.Not a beaming, booming voice—just breath,and being,and a lovebig enough to carry himback into the noise.
