I always look forward to each new offering from San Francisco’s @ArsMinerva . This plucky organization revives Italian operas that have lain dormant for centuries in lively and engaging productions.

This weekend is Antonio Sartorio & Marc’Antonio Ziani’s amoral, irreverent La Flora, from 1681.

Baroque opera alert, SF: Ermelinda (1680) is by far the finest offering to date from @ArsMinerva — heartfelt, funny, and beautifully rendered throughout.

Full review coming in the morning, but Sunday afternoon is the last performance so I’m issuing buy orders now.

To reiterate: Ermelinda is pure joy, the best thing @arsminerva has undertaken to date.

Bay Area opera peeps, there’s one last performance this afternoon. Just sayin.
