#Asacol
Asacol-niminen lääke melkein kaikkialta loppu. Toukokuun lopussa tulee lisää. Vähä haasteita monille suolistosairaalle.

When I was in grad school, I learned that my student insurance wouldn't cover more than $2k annually in prescriptions, so they stopped covering my $860/mo Asacol. There was no generic and I couldn't tolerate other 5-ASAs. By the time I had better coverage, Asacol stopped working for me.

I ended up on Remicade, which worked (until a different insurer kept messing up my paperwork and I went too long between infusions and became resistant). But insurance had refused to pay $860 for Asacol and now had to pay $18k/6wks for Remicade. Bonkers. Just bonkers.

My gp would look blankly at me, their solution is Asacol and cocodamol and have a happy life.

Joo, hyvä uutinen on kuitenkin se että mesalatsiini (Asacol) löytyy nyt ministeriön listalta. Jotain siis opittu.

I'm on Xeljanz now, and Pfizer covers whatever my insurance doesn't, including copay. I appreciate only having to take a couple pills every day instead of going to the infusion center. But if insurance had just covered the Asacol, I wouldn't be immunosuppressed with a high risk of pulmonary embolism

Ich kann das Asacol nicht mehr halten.
Die nächste Baustelle.
Ich mag nicht mehr.

Reminds me of, at 13, taking Asacol for Crohn’s Disease. It’s meant to break down in the bowel. I had a midnight dose my parents would wake me for. In my sleep, sometimes I’d chew instead of swallow. Burned my mouth and throat for 24 hours each time.

My grandmother was (finally) diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, and because of issues she's having with her new meds, I have learned two things. First, they discontinued the Asacol version of mesalamine, and second, that the Lialda version only comes in 1.2g pills. The units there are not a typo.

.. Gastro folks at Charité Berlin also recommended adding probiotics to the adursal/asacol cocktail ;)

I've been taking vit b complex, vit d, magnesium and a few other things. It's been helpful. But I also have a very low immune cells count, possibly due to other reasons (lead intoxication from...

... Before probiotics (on adursal+asacol) I would regularly get blood in the stool, the next toilet visit after i'd been near some heavy chemistry. After adding probiotics to the diet, I'd 'just' get diarrhea in similar circumstances, rather than bloody stool.

Somewhere, October 26th JST:

Shinzo!

Yes, my lord?

Look at this. *Points to random US headlines*
Your dear friend Donald may lose the election. What will you do?

*Pops an Asacol and thinks*

It seems the only thing to do is make a sacrifice.

Do you want to know what #private funding of medicinal #research looks like? It looks like #Asacol, the name brand of Mesalamine, putting their tablet inside of a capsule, then saying that the bioequivalency changed, so they keep their patent lol.

I used to take mesalamine, and even Asacol HD was sometimes too big for me to swallow safely, and that was only 800mg!
