I found it fascinating. I grew up on Heinlein and Asamov, love Larry Niven (Ringwold, Mote in God's Eye), Dragon's Egg, Farmer's Riverworld Series, etc.

This is sending me on a fucking journey about Lin Carter and how apparently Asamov 1: wrote about an all dude mystery solving dinner club, 2: based it on his friends, and 3: one of those friends was able to afford a mansion writing for the new York post.
I'm in a spin.
I'm in a spin.

And that’s it. Everything else was atrocious. The spores don’t make any sense. The anatomy and design of the aliens makes no sense. David’s motivations, while a cool idea with the creator/creation dynamic, made no fucking sense! Where is Asamov? How would we invent androids with no safety features?

My favorite subtle line reading of his is in his first scene, after he calls Asamov a handsome devil, among some other, more uh, colorful stuff, and Asamov goes "I will...take that as a compliment" and Isaacs goes "Yeah, don't"

Especially when it comes to Ottie and Asamov (I am fans of them the most), the moments we see are just them being loving and wholesome (even when those moments are NSFW) sapphics and this is how they go about their days.

Asamov with this much legs maybe? Maybe Ottie’s brain will reset perhaps?

“explosivity” is not a word, Mr. Twellman. I object, I object, and I object again.
While still appreciating the case you’re making about Antony.
Even if it’s a bit glib.
I’ll stop.

Nvm, I just realised. Because the left and right is actually irrelevant. It is belief vs truth. Like Asamov says, the world has become a place governed by the false notion that democracy means that their ignorance is just as good as our knowledge

Scientology author, but this book is unrelated as far as I'm aware), Asamov is pretty important... I've been more Fantasy side of the spectrum lately, so those are all I can think of off the top of my head

This is a good question and one with many answers. For me:
Le Guin - The Dispossessed
Asamov - Foundation
Banks - Consider Phlebus; Excession
Herbert - Dune
Dick - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
Gibson - Neuromancer
James - Children of Men
Robinson - Red Mars
Bradbury - Martian Chronicles
Le Guin - The Dispossessed
Asamov - Foundation
Banks - Consider Phlebus; Excession
Herbert - Dune
Dick - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
Gibson - Neuromancer
James - Children of Men
Robinson - Red Mars
Bradbury - Martian Chronicles
What are the sci-fi foundational texts. Like 10 books every one should have read?
