Recent discoveries made by the Egyptian Mission in the area of Asasif & the mortuary complex of Hatshepsut: over 1000 fragments of Hatshepsut’s Valley Temple, Middle Kingdom tombs, 17th Dynasty burial shafts & the later Ptolemaic necropolis. Many congrats to all the Egyptians involved in this work!

After 50 years, archaeologists have finally determined that a tomb uncovered at Luxor’s Al-Asasif necropolis was built for Amun-Mes, the mayor of Thebes during the Ramesside period (ca. 1295–1070 B.C.).

I’ve just had a fantabulous time in Luxor at the Thebes in the First Millennium BC conference.

This was organised by the South Asasif Conservation Project, which I volunteered for. I got to revisit the tomb I worked in, which I’ve not seen since 2016. Very special.
