Much of the modern medicine that we take for granted emerged after WWII. Two concepts that today is so common place, we don't even notice them. They're asepsis & anti-sepsis. Asepsis means the lack of germs. Keep stuff clean, avoid dirt, discard moldy stuff, etc. Anti-sepsis means killing germs. 1/2

2/2 Antiseptic cleansers & agents, especially isopropyl alcohol, so much in demand during Covid, clean us (people) & things that have been contaminated. Best way to not get sick is to not encourage things that make us sick. Post WWII asepsis & anti-sepsis protocols made surgery safer & survivable.

I can't confirm this one, it's not in the deaths book OR in the GRO registers.
But Ada had other horrors to share, like the oakum used for bandages.
