Why we leave half uncut over Winter at #AshlwncuttingLNR. We'll be starting to cut half of that uncut area over the next few weeks. We have to cut and rake off grasslands but it's a daunting puzzle ,what's best.....variety! Goldfinches doing well :-).

We've still got them! After an absence of over 30 years Green Hairstreak was spotted in #AshlwnCuttingLNR 4 years ago and I've found one or two every year since. Today there were 2 on the scrubby edge of this scallop near Ashlawn rd. Bridge @savebutterflies.bsky.social #Conservation #localvolunteers

Working mostly in the shade we finally grubbed out the last of the Fringecups at #AshlwnCuttingLNR this morning. Mking more room for native plants that we want for butterflies eg Violets for Fritillarys. And had a walk round as buterflies ent for siestas in the afternoon heat.

While cutting the path edges at #AshlwnCuttingLNR we saw a hole dug next to the path exposing a drainage pipe that never worked.Reckon it was a Badger digging to get at the Bumblebee nest! @warksmammalgroup.bsky.social @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social

It's not the Rat's fault. This neighbouring house owners bird feeding area over their fence at #AshlwncuttingLNR is a biohazard. Max count of 20 Brown rats seen here . #Leptospirosis

A nice mixed day at #AshlwncuttingLNR ,work in the morning and a walk after. We have judges from the Royal Horticultural Society visiting as we contribute to Rugby's entry in the Britain in Bloom. Paths to clear without cutting flowers! Lots of butterflies to see too. @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social

There's water on the move in #AshlwncuttingLNR and while it's not conducive to walkers with cameras that aren't waterproof it does suit birds looking for places to bathe. See ALTxt

Nice to see a Jay in the marsh this morning, wonder what it was up to? Frogs have spawned in 2 more places . At #AshlwncuttingLNR @arc-trust.bsky.social Numbers of frogs and spawn clumps still a fraction of what we used to see a few years ago worryingly. No frogs seen oddly, not even guards.

Singing grey squirrels LOL!! Thanks for sharing that idea.
Someone had left this at #AshlwncuttingLNR . A visiting school group...a least they got outdoors for a while. Reds were also considered a pest in their heyday so it goes that we dn't know what we've got 'til it's gone....
