From the Early Eocene USA to the Late Eocene of Spain. Asiatosuchus oenotriensis has been known for a while but was named only now. A great example of Europe's croc diversity, it lived in the Duero basin alongside Diplocynodon, Duerosuchus and Iberosuchus.

this is the maxilla, but remains of the lower jaw indicate that it could have reached even larger sizes

It is a very happy #fossilfriday as I sent back a revised manuscript last night, a years-in-the-making review that is the reason I find my phone full of pictures like this every time I've been to a museum:

Esto puede ocurrir, por ejemplo, cuando descubrimos que se trata de un género nuevo. En la #SalaDeLasTortugas de #Salamanca esto pasará con 'Asiatosuchus oenotriensis' (ilustración de Manuel Mújica), ya que sabemos que en realidad no es #Asiatosuchus. Pero de momento ese es su nombre.
