Because I do not personally think that the state should be wielded as a tool of individual revenge, and I think that once we go down that path it can get very ugly very quickly.
This can mean that individual crime victims are left unsatisfied by the consequences their assailants face!

It seems obvious to me that all survivors need space from their assailants, and that Cornell taking steps ranging from no contact orders to expulsions was at least an attempt at that. It also seems clear to me that this was not sufficient to help Jane Doe heal.

Went to supervise my coworker’s trick-or-treating (as Metro, obviously), and two guys stalked me for four+ hours before throwing potatoes at me and my coworkers, entirely unprompted! Regardless, my potato harvest will now be bountiful, and the assailants will not survive the winter!
