I also almost always take my black teas with milk, which blunts the bitterness and the caffeine/my digestion issues a _lot_; earl grays aren't so great with milk but Assams very much are.

While I was in Pittsburgh for Winter Institute, I visited an old-school coffee/tea stockist, Nicholas Coffee & Tea Co., where I picked up two Assams from estates I don't think I've tried: Gingia and Jorhat. The Gingia is lovely but the Jorhat is out of this world.

which are lower caffeine. I could spend my life drinking French breakfast or Assams for the heavy caffeine but I think that sounds like an unpleasant way to live and I'm drinking tea because I like it, if it were about caffeine I'd buy caffeine pills.

Ahhhh I got the Vahdam sampler as a gift for someone but haven't tried their Darjeeling mix myself yet

I love their Assams, though

I also like really malty assams with milk

That's tough to survive :/ I've often brought my own teabags- it's never caused any upset. This has ranged from strong supermarket Assams to more extreme measures like buying fill-your-own teabags from eBay

Oh man that is such a hard question to answer!! The general answer is: Assams (think malty English Breakfast). Right now I am really digging the Keynan tea from Camellia Sinensis. It's like drinking a cup of apricots. For everyday, the Marangi from Sullivan.

I’ve found Ahmed London to be a surprisingly good product considering its very inexpensive; their Assams leave a bit to be desired but do seem to come out well with some blending

A "delicious and highly sought-after tea, combining flavorful Ceylons, Noth Indian Assams and Darjeeling teas with rosemary, black currant and a pinch of cassia".

I love this tea. Perfect aroma and warms on a chilly morning.

Thank you! I've had amazing Kenyan and Tanzanian malty teas. And yes I love Assams.

I have liked every tea I’ve had from them, and they’re very personable (in the beforetimes, I went to their tea shop in NYC a lot, so I met some of the & Sons & Grandson). I’ve gotten some nice Assams for my dad, and oolongs for me, and Paris is my favorite flavored tea.

I get whole leaf assams from somewhere like teabox.com and read the notes and reviews to find the malty ones!

Trink ich auch, aber lass mal die Bergamotte raus.

Gern Assams, 2nd flush Darjeelings, und ich hab hier n Ceylon mit Wildkirsche, der ist auch imba.

The Darjeeling, oh yes! I tried cold brewing it and it's a different level of delicious. Now happily exploring their Assams.

Now I’m wondering what the mineral content of my tap water is because I like the way my tea tastes with it. I drink almost exclusively Assams but I wonder about different styles of tea.

I'm basic and just like the assams and english breakfast blends and chais I can find in my local tea shops :D

I find Darjeeling to have a metallic/tinny taste, which is a bummer because I know so many people who love it. Assams are my faves. Malty and astringent and bitter. Mmmm.

In general, I prefer green Japanese and Indonesian teas, both pure and jasmine-strawberry blends. Among black teas, I prefer Kenyan teas, and the Chinese Magic Yunnan with plum petals and a 'smoky' note... In essence, I love almost all teas (with delicate flavors), except for strong Assams.

Neat! I haven’t heard of that one. I also often get nice strong Assams (loose leaf) from local tea shops, but tbh Yorkie Gold holds up pretty well to my swampwater taste buds (my partner likes really delicate fancy tea & it just tastes like hot water to me 😂😅)
