Shot in the dark at imaging the Orion Molecular Cloud; got Barnard's Loop via mortal sins against Photoshop. From the balcony at the Lutsen ski resort, 50mm on the K-5iis and AstroTracer to do sidereal tracking. (AT works great at short focal lengths.) 2/2020

One of my photos of Andromeda from a few years ago before my favorite local spot got too light polluted.

Shot using Pentax Astrotracer on my K-3 with the DA* 300mm/f4 lens.

NOW we are cooking!! The Pentax Kr and Astrotracer combo set at 30 seconds with a Pentacon 50mm F/1.8 lens from the 60s, Southern Cross to left and Carina region to the right. When I get better with the Astrotracer settings I might go out to a minute or more.

2nd camping trip to Merritt Reservoir, NE. AMAZING dark skies. Almost ran out of charge in the Bolt, got it hung up at the edge of the camp road, got stonkered on a single beer, had a mouse stow away on the return trip.

Also, this. 15x240", 14mm, Pentax AstroTracer.

Stargazing.

Pentax K1 Mark II / Irix 15mm/f2.4 Firefly

No stacking, just one 10-20sec exposure, f2.4, ISO6400. Using the Pentax Astrotracer feature.

Still trying to get this Astrotracer tracking worked out but it will not be tonight ... here on a 50mm lens, Pentax Kr @ 8 seconds.F/1.4 and ISO 6,400 is the Carina Nebula and surrounds ... too bloody cold out there.

A little better luck with Astrotracer on the Pentax Monochrome 📷 tonight.

Last night in the high mountain desert. Back to cities and sea level soon.

The lower part of the Milky Way I shot last night on a 35mm lens. In the top right is the sting of Scorpio with Ptolemy's Cluster below.

In coming weeks I hope to use the Pentax Kr and Astrotracer to examine this region better as it is chock full of goodies.

Bare minimum #astrophotography tonight, trying to get back into it.
Wide field hopeful shot, managed to get Messier 13 Hercules globular cluster, while messing around with #pentax astrotracer! 200mm, 30s ISO400 single frame.

I've had a Pentax K-1 mii with the astrotracer function for years that I am absolutely committing to busting out and using again this spring, both with and without the astrotracer function. 📷

An image of the Milky Way I created a while back. This is a composite of two images taken from the same location: one tracking the stars using Pentax Astrotracer for my DSLR and the other stationary for the ground.

The deep orange horizon is due to smoke from distant wildfires. #astrophotography

fav bit of Pentax trivia:

On the K-5 & K-r, the unit also provides an Astrotracer function that allows the camera sensor to act as a simple equatorial mount for astrophotography. This allows for exposures of up to five minutes without incurring star trails on the photo.

I don’t see too many with Pentax cameras anymore! I have a Pentax K1 mark ii and love it! The built in astrotracer is great!

That old Pentax K-5iis, did it have a Astrotracer attachment. Brilliant work there mate ... you inspire me.

Malgré un UGA de 15mm dépasser les 10s ça gâche la photo (astrotracer désactivé). D'un autre côté monter la sensibilité ça craint aussi. Grrr

I got similar trying an Astrotracer wide shot to locate M33. I had thought the show had died down, and was surprised by the oddly red look…
Nice picture!

Jag stod och blåhöll kameran stilla mot hojen i bara t-shirt och kallingar, nästa gång blir det stativ och att komma ihåg att slå på AstroTracer-funktionen (kameran kan flytta sensorn i takt med jordens rotation).

When they released the monochrome is all in. And last year I picked up the K1 mkii and it is pretty amazing. I played with the astrotracer on the K3 in Colorado but never quite had the right lens or the time to get it working as well as I'd have liked.

Had a crack with me bins and astrotracer this evening. Jupiter getting quite high, and managed to grab Saturn’s rings but the gps battery got cold, so curtailed further piccies! Coathanger sinks into the west…
