Thrift score! $5.99 unopened ream of card stock that costs almost $32 at Office Max. Doing at least some of your printing/assembly yourself and being flexible about paper stocks/colors is a huge part of how I keep costs down and sustain my self-publishing.

It’s a bit funny to me when folks accuse anti-AI artists of “gatekeeping.” My dude, Midjourney charges you $60 a month for images, while real artists remind you that you can make it for free and experience the joy of the process. So who’s really gatekeeping?

From the first year of the program, here is a Music For Nimrods flyer circa 1996. Made at the Kinko's on Vine, I spared no expense and opted for the Astrobright card stock. The flyers were then left at my favorite record, book and video stores in Los Feliz and Hollywood.

I hope the Pride market I’m vending at this Saturday is better than the last one I was at. I debuted this (imho) very nice and bold risograph print at it and only -one- person commented on it.

I do love that people are putting together these gorgeous full color books of cooperative fanart... but part of me also misses when a zine was 11 letter-sized photocopies, folded in half and stapled to an Astrobright cover.
