A banana-loving alligator named Atagawa Banio is the mascot for Atagawa Tropical Alligator Garden (a botanical garden and zoo in Shizuoka, Japan). He came to Ibrew craft beer pub in Ebisu today.

1. The Atagawa pennant. It features an illustration printed on yellow fabric, with two purple ribbons attached to the left side of the flag. 2. The illustration depicts bananas and Alligator from the Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden, as well as a view of Atagawa Onsen. 3. Close-up of the illustration. It shows a large bunch of bananas, banana leaves, and a Alligator in a pool. Also depicted are a hot spring tower with steam rising from it and an overpass on National Route 135 running behind the town. 4. The title is in English. It reads “Atagawa, National Park” (in black) in cursive letters.

Atagawa is a hot spring resort located on the Izu Peninsula. This pennant features a view of the town, along with Alligators from the Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden.
Length 61cm (24.0in). 1974. #vintage
1. The Atagawa Onsen pennant. It features photographs and other images printed on cardboard and is decorated with yellow fringe. 2. On the left side of the flag, an enlarged photograph. It depicts the central area of Atagawa Onsen, centered on Izu-Atagawa Station on the Izukyu Line (Izu-kyuko Line), showing the hot spring town’s steep terrain facing the sea. 3. The title is written in Japanese Gothic typeface: “Atagawa Onsen, Where Hot Springs Abound” (yellow and orange on a blue background). 4. On the right side of the flag, an enlarged photo shows a group of alligators beside the pool at the Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden. Several large alligators are huddled together, seemingly piled on top of one another.

Atagawa is a hot spring resort located on the eastern side of the Izu Peninsula. This pennant features a depiction of the Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden and the townscape.
Length 61cm (24.0in). Circa 1970s or 1980s. #vintage
1. The Atagawa pennant. It features an illustration printed on navy blue fabric and is decorated with yellow fringe. 2. The illustration depicts the crocodiles and bananas from the Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden, as well as the town of Atagawa. It is drawn with white lines on a navy background and colored in shades of blue, green, brown, and orange. 3. Close-up of the illustration. In the foreground are two large Alligators and a bunch of bananas. In the center is the town of Atagawa, facing the sea and surrounded by a grove of tropical phoenix trees, with the hot spring tower in the background. Izu Oshima Island, spewing smoke into the sea in the distance, is visible. The fruit depicted in the corner of the illustration is likely a pineapple. 4. The title is written in both Japanese and English. “Atagawa” is written in kanji (white, orange), and “NATIONAL PARK IZU” is written in English (white). A Japanese spiny lobster is depicted on the far right edge of the flag.

賀茂郡 (かも-) 東伊豆町。相模湾に面する熱川温泉 (あたがわ-) 。伊豆半島の急峻な地形に宿泊施設が集まる景色の良い温泉郷で知られ、ペナントは数多い。
これは温泉を利用した動植物園の熱川バナナワニ園と温泉櫓(-やぐら)、街の背後を通る国道135号線の陸橋。大きなバナナの房がユニーク。全長46.5cm。

熱川のペナント、2種類。熱川バナナワニ園と温泉櫓 (-やぐら) 、現:国道135号線の橋梁。
この橋梁は1962年に開通した東伊豆有料道路の熱川大橋で、その後無料化されたもの。当時は1958年開園のバナナワニ園とともに熱川の発展を象徴する新しいランドマークだっただろう。

Our local railroad company organized an express train excursion to the Taiwan Lantern Festival in Atagawa, Shizuoka. There were lots of food booths, a taiko performance, and hundreds of lanterns.
