My Review: This is a story about complications. It’s also a complicated mystery. And those two things twist together into a story that is, well, complicated. In every possible way. It begins with a murder. A suspected drug dealer is found dead with two bullets in him, way out in the boonies and a LONG way from home. It’s the kind of case that isn’t always exactly solved, but generally isn’t all that hard for the police to figure out what happened even if precisely who did it  this particular time is a bit elusive.

My Review: “There’s a body in Lost Nation,” according to the caller who has woken Chief Inspector Armand Gamache in the middle of the night. Gamache thinks the voice is a bit familiar, but the location - not at all. Which doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to find it. As the Chief of the Homicide Division of the Sûreté du Québec, it’s Gamache’s job to find it. To find the body, and investigate how it got there and more importantly, how the person who once inhabited that body died. The story is already a quest when it begins.
