Alert for Residents for the August BH weekend on water supply interupption and disruption. Dear Residents, Please be advised that Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) will be carrying out essential, critical repair works on a major pipeline over the August Bank Holiday weekend, which may result in an interruption or disruption of water supply across the Greater Dublin Area, parts of Kildare and Wicklow The works relate to repairs on the pipeline connecting Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant to Saggart Reservoir—responsible for supplying approximately one third of Dublin’s drinking water Repairs are complex and urgent. Mains will be shut down and drained to enable inspection, leak repairs and pipe replacement. Households could be without water from 10pm on Friday 1st of August until Sunday 3rd of August however, water could be gone for longer. What Should You Do? Please prepare now to manage through the work: 1. Store enough drinking water – refill jugs and keep in fridge; do not drink from hot-water or bathroom taps 2. Turn off all pre-programmed appliances (e.g., dishwashers, washing machines) before and during disruption to avoid emptying tanks unexpectedly 3. Ensure all taps in your property are turned off during the outage to prevent air locks or flooding upon restoration 4. Conserve water: Avoid non-essential use such as car washing, power/wall housing, filling paddling pools, etc. 5. Check real-time updates for your local area and estimated supply return times via Uisce Éireann’s supply and service map Once the water supply returns, you may notice: • Discoloured water – runs clear after a few minutes of flushing tap. • Reduced pressure initially – may take up to three hours to return to normal. • If water doesn’t return within 24 hours, contact Irish Water for assistance.
