AWS Storage Gateway now supports IPv6
AWS Storage Gateway announces Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) support for AWS Storage Gateway endpoints, APIs, and gateway appliance interfaces. This enhancement enables both IPv6 and IPv4 access to our new dual-stack endpoints. The existing AWS Storage Gateway endpoints supporting IPv4 only will remain available for backwards compatibility. AWS Storage Gateway provides on-premises access to data stored in AWS storage. With this launch, customers can standardize their applications and workflows for managing their AWS Storage Gateway resources on IPv6 while maintaining backward compatibility with IPv4 clients. By using the new dual-stack capabilities in the Storage Gateway appliances, service endpoints, and APIs, customers can transition from IPv4 to IPv6 gradually without needed to switch all their networking at once. AWS Storage Gateway support for IPv6 is available in all AWS Regions where the service is offered. To learn more, visit the AWS Storage Gateway user guide.

🆕 AWS Storage Gateway now supports Nutanix AHV hypervisor for S3 File, Tape, and Volume gateways, enabling access to unlimited cloud storage for on-premises applications. Available in all AWS Regions.

#AWS #AwsStorageGateway #AwsGovcloudUs
AWS Storage Gateway now supports Nutanix AHV hypervisor
The AWS Storage Gateway service now supports the Nutanix AHV hypervisor as a deployment option for S3 File, Tape and Volume gateways. If you use Nutanix AHV hypervisor-based on-premises infrastructure, you can now deploy Storage Gateway in your environment to access virtually unlimited cloud storage.
Nutanix AHV (Acropolis Hypervisor) is a KVM-based virtualization platform that is integrated into the Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution. With this launch, you have the option to deploy Storage Gateway on a Nutanix AHV hypervisor.
Storage Gateway is a hybrid cloud storage service that provides on-premises applications access to virtually unlimited cloud storage using NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and iSCSI-VTL interfaces. You can use the service to backup and archive data to AWS, shift on-premises storage to cloud-backed file shares, and provide on-premises applications low-latency access to data in AWS. You can deploy Storage Gateway as a virtual appliance (VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Linux KVM, and now Nutanix) on premises or as an Amazon EC2 instance in AWS. This capability is available in all AWS Regions. Visit the Storage Gateway User guide to learn more, or log into the Storage Gateway management console to get started.

🆕 AWS Storage Gateway now provides FIPS-compliant private access for Amazon S3 File Gateway via AWS PrivateLink, boosting compliance for regulated workloads. Available in eight regions. For more, see the AWS Storage Gateway User Guide.

#AWS #AwsStorageGateway #AwsPrivatelink #AmazonS3
AWS Storage Gateway now supports FIPS-compliant private connectivity for Amazon S3 File Gateway
AWS Storage Gateway now supports FIPS 140-3 validated endpoints over AWS PrivateLink for Amazon S3 File Gateway. Previously, FIPS endpoints for File Gateway were available only over the public internet. Now you can keep FIPS-compliant traffic on the private AWS network, making it easier to use Storage Gateway for regulated workloads. With this launch, your File Gateway can reach the Storage Gateway service endpoints privately through a FIPS interface VPC endpoint in your VPC. You can also create NFS and SMB file shares that reach Amazon S3 through an S3 FIPS interface endpoint, enabling FIPS-compliant private connectivity for your end-to-end file transfer workloads. To get started, create FIPS interface endpoints for Storage Gateway and Amazon S3 in your VPC, then choose the FIPS VPC endpoint option when activating your gateway and configuring your file shares. To activate a gateway with a FIPS PrivateLink endpoint, your gateway must be running software version 3.2.7 or later. This launch is available in the eight AWS Regions where Storage Gateway offers FIPS endpoints: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Canada (Central), Canada West (Calgary), AWS GovCloud (US-East), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). AWS Storage Gateway adds console support for copying file shares across gateways
AWS Storage Gateway now allows you to copy file shares across gateways directly from the Storage Gateway console. When you initiate a copy, the console reads the configuration of your source share and creates a new file share on the destination gateway with compatible settings preserved. Previously, you had to manually recreate each file share on the destination gateway and re-enter configuration details one by one. Now you can copy a file share and have its configuration automatically applied to a destination gateway, significantly reducing the time and effort required for migrations such as upgrading to AL2023. A guided experience surfaces any configurations that require your attention before the new share is created, helping ensure a smooth transition without missing critical settings. To get started, navigate to your file shares in the Storage Gateway console, select a share, and choose Copy to gateway. This capability is available in commercial AWS Regions. To check regional availability, see AWS Capabilities. For more information, visit the AWS Storage Gateway User Guide.
