#BADmiral
If it comes from an Admiral it’s right, if it comes from a Badmiral it’s wrong.

We were just rewatching The Drumhead and I was contrasting the approach of that episode with the badmiral ep from Strange New Worlds where the villain literally holds a gun to Kirk’s head and demands that everyone commit genocide

Them turning Badmiral Bosscar into basically Mountain is so funny.

Do still hope he gets his Bengal Orange color though with however he's released.

I see her more as a warning of what the Federation could become, not because of wickedness or corruption - quite the opposite - but through systems, duty, hierarchies and pragmatism. She's no badmiral; she's Jack Bauer. Where conscience becomes a liability, but the system works as intended.

I love when a Starfleet BADmiral isn't necessarily evil, just a douchebag.

2. Character - We all know I’m ride or die on Spock, but this time it goes to Martin Quinn’s Scotty. He is the perfect combination of naive and genius. I thought the accent in the turbo lift was a nice nod to Anton Yelchin.
1. Episode - Orders of Magnitude. A new badmiral story? Sign me up!

Badmiral Jean-Luc Picard stole his ship, endangered his crew, and in the end, went out like a hero. He was amazing!

“Oh cool, an Admiral showing u- oh. It’s a badmiral. Cool.”

I'm of two minds as to whether he's a Badmiral or not. Like, narratively he's supposed to be, but he's also... kinda right? Sorta? IDK I think this is a wash.

I swear I hadn't remembered the next ep title as "Paradise Lost"! 😉
The teaser immediately shifts the entire load of suspicion, straight onto yet another badmiral. But I LIKE Foxworth! Why couldn't Questor be a good guy?

I'm halfway through my rewatch, but I'm enjoying Foxworth and Peters so much. The original Roddenberry android in one of his Trek villain roles, and the movie badmiral (VI, not IV) as the loveliest grandpa & chef. ❤️🖖

almost done with ST:SNW S4... watched the 'badmiral' episode last night. I feel like they made this episode just to prove to people that they COULD make serious, high-drama episodes, but they just don't WANT to, because that's not what SNW is about. excellent episode with serious moral quandry.

The Badmiral episode and the finale stand out because of this because they deliver on the show's basic premise without relying on some kind of gimmick to shake up the status quo. At the end of the day, they are "competence porn" and that has been sorely lacking from SNW since S2.

Caught up with Strange New Worlds which remains the best of the “nu Trek” shows by a mile. The ghost ship and badmiral episodes were the standouts (I love a good badmiral). Don’t mind a comedy episode but there were two too many for this 10-episode season.

I think a corrupt-badmiral thriller in the Trek universe could be fun. It might be a stretch.

The best eps were 1 (dinosaurs), 2 (Griffin Incident horror film), and 8 (Joe Morton's badmiral vendetta + Uhura kicking pirate ass). I love a shenanigan but an entire season of shenanigans? Less so.

However, I still enjoy how angry the muppets made humorless Trek bros 😂

Thoughts?

Dadmiral >> badmiral

the "everyone gets drunk" episode was crappy even WITH ortegas. almost impressive rly

i liked the horror ep, the badmiral ep, the disaster ep, and the puppet ep (unlike many i have no issue with it all being just a dream). the finale was fine. the noir ep was fine. disliked the rest of them

orders of magnitude was the highlight this season, a pretty solid badmiral episode that kinda fumbles it by the end with unnecessary twists
so close to being an all time great...

so yeah
a season where 3 episodes were really good
2 more lesser ones i still enjoyed
...and 5 dogwater ones

not great

I guess all this is a long way of saying I hope you watch and enjoy the season. And whether you knew what a Badmiral was before, or that the title “Tomorrow’s Enterprise” is a fun nod to “Yesterday’s Enterprise”, I hope you come back for season 5 when we take this NCC-1701 on her final missions.

It's been a very gimmicky season, no doubt. But reducing "horror" and "disaster" to the status of gimmick is very limiting. And the bAdmiral episode dealt with the issue of justice vs deterrence vs revenge, in addition to the mutiny issue.
