My dad's operation was cancelled last minute - rescheduled for the new year.

Speaking of my father, he opined this week that the gentle comedy of @BBCFOUR's 'Detectorists' makes the show this generation's 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Have to say I'm inclined to agree.

If you missed it last night you can still watch it on #BBCiPlayer.

#BBCFOUR’s much missed #Timeshift series looks at How to Win at Chess and includes clips from classic Soviet #SilentFilm Chess Fever (1925): www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Finally watched @BBCFOUR's Flying Scotsman from the Footplate. Lovely views of @svrofficialsite. Worth a watch.

So excited by the return this Wednesday of @BBCFOUR's 'Detectorists'. Let's hope series three sustains the show's gentle magic.

Fell asleep on the sofa again in the early evening. Woke up at 3:40am, came to, then watched @BBCFOUR's brilliant 'Detectorists' (its third series promises to be every bit as good as the first two). Also watched the finale of @RedDwarfHQ's twelth series. Made me laugh out loud!

Awake since 1:40am, having nodded off on the sofa before 10pm. Wasn't sleepy so I watched episode two of the new series of @BBCFOUR's charming 'Detectorists'. I swear I'll miss this show when it's done. And I swear it's made me nostalgic for a rural Essex I've never even visited!

In case you missed it - maybe you were out, or you've recorded it for later, or you simply don't care - last night's ending to @BBCFOUR's 'Detectorists' was a masterclass in gentle understatement; this whole final episode both moving and laugh-out-loud funny. Brilliant work.

Last episode tonight at 10pm (@BBCTwo) of the gentle 'Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing'. If you loved @BBCFOUR's 'Detectorists', you'll adore the genuine friendship between @RealBobMortimer and Paul Whitehouse in this charmer of a series. More, please!

All aboard for #BBCFour’s #Timeshift The Trains That Time Forgot: Britain's Lost Railway Journeys episode. Plenty of great archive in this one: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b...

Catching up with #BBCFour's ghost story night from yesterday. The modern Gatiss adaptations are decent enough, but the original 'Oh, Whistle...' is the pure quill. @nunkie.bsky.social @pisci.bsky.social

Tuning into #BBCFour's hosting of - so far - somewhat rather underwhelming pompous and long-winded hip hop thang... en route, thought that #Kraftwerk's #Kometenmelodie2 - one of their more underrated toons?
