18 months ago when I rocked up for my debut as a @greenparty.org.uk councillor on #BBCPoliticsNorth, I’d never have thought that by now we’d have @zackpolanski.bsky.social being asked by @bbcrichardmoss.bsky.social about Greens possibly running Newcastle Council in May…. but that just happened! 👀

On the basis of the predicted national vote share the Greens came second on Thursday. In Newcastle they topped the poll.

This was a strange question to be asked of me on #BBCPoliticsNorth yesterday.

As Greens in Newcastle, we’re building support in working class communities right across the city.

With people from a range of backgrounds, with common concerns about the impact of cuts and the cost of living.
Politics North on BBC this morning was wild. Richard Moss turned to Nick Hartley and was like "Reform seem to speak for working class voters. You only win in affluent areas, yes?" And Hartley was like "I have literally been the cllr for Byker for two years"

I spoke to #BBCPoliticsNorth this weekend on why we need to end austerity for councils and how @greenparty.org.uk policy and a wealth tax can help us do this.

Community groups have been plugging the gaps for long enough.

Now’s the time to invest in them.

Talking about sewage spills, yet no Green Party representative on the panel, instead you have a Reform councillor, which doesn't really make sense!!

BBC once again giving Reform a larger platform than both the Lib Dems and Green parties! 🙄
