“To be frank about it, frontline workers are doing more with less these days,” said BC General Employees’ Union president Paul Finch. “We don’t think there’s a case to lay off frontline workers.”

Wildland firefighters are firefighters. It’s time for the federal government to recognize that.

Sebastian Kalos, vice-president of BCGEU Component 20, is in Ottawa with BCGEU President Paul Finch and wildland firefighters, calling for proper recognition in the National Occupational Classification.

After the Oct 24 BC election, BCGEU thanks outgoing BC NDP Premier David Eby for helping #families. Eby himself highlighted in his concession speech last night how the BC #minimumwage went from the lowest to highest in Canada under the 9-year BC NDP government. islandsocialtrends.ca/bcgeu-thanks...

Vote BC Greens. They support workers more than the BC NDP. Just ask BCGEU, BC Nurses, or BC Teachers.
October 24, 2026 at 3:11 AM
So that was BCGEU specifically. I'll admit the NDP couldve handled that a lot better. But the fact that even the BCGEU's own report card ranks the NDP higher than the Greens on most things speaks volumes. On balance, as the party of workers, the NDP is the best choice for workers

You mean the way he fought for the working people when he scabbed the BCGEU and dragged out BCTF negotiations by a full year? Real friend of the working people for sure.

I’m honoured to have the BCGEU’s endorsement for re-election to Victoria City Council. I've always supported workers and always will. #yyj

Our Candidates have been endorsed by public figures from labour, arts, climate, schools, federal and provincial governments, academia, and Indigenous advocacy.

Today is your last chance for early voting. Whoever you vote for mayor, make sure OneCity is on your ballot for a more affordable city.

They brought the same people to the negotiating table with BCTF as the BC Liberals™ did under Christy Clark. They scabbed the BCGEU, have exacerbated climate change through fracking subsidy, and froze transit funding.

They aren't centre-right - they are a populist faux-austerity party. Right wing.

If BCGEU thinks the Conservatives are on their side they should consider history. Right wing parties have NOT been good for public sector wages.

Raises in the last 10 years under the NDP greatly exceeded the previous 10 years. Data attached.

Land value is created by public tax dollars, but mostly pocketed by property owners.

Some of that value should be returned to us, the public, through lower income taxes and more investments in transit and housing.

I made this myself. Here's how it works: send me your name suggestions in the comments, by DM, or at bcgeu.ca/mascot. Members get priority. I'll pick a shortlist. Then we vote. I have veto power.

The prize: your name on me. Forever. And probably a special BCGEU hoodie (if you'd like).
