well I got the CPM68K BDOS building from source with TriSoft's installation program linking against it, so now I have a CPM68.SYS with an extra BDOS call that just prints the string "123"

With CP/M-3's BDOS, the theoretical upper limit for disk size is 32MB, which is an insane amount of space for CP/M. ROMWBW limits itself to 8MB slices because that's what CP/M 2 can handle.

Re BDOs: George O. Smith's "Lost Art" is about what gets left out of technical documentation. I could see an analog where ancient aliens go to tremendous trouble to mark a site or artifact as lethally dangerous, only for humans to interpret the warnings as "To Find Cool Stuff Dig Here."

Re BDOs: George O. Smith's "Lost Art" is about what gets left out of technical documentation. I could see an analog where ancient aliens go to tremendous trouble to mark a site or artifact as lethally dangerous, only for humans to interpret the warnings as "To Find Cool Stuff Dig Here."
I enjoyed the series but the BDOs having very little to do with the stories was disappointing.
