To Jacquelyn’s point, I just bought a boom box for a 12 year old who specifically requested one.
One of the many things paper books have going for them is that they can't be stripped of their place- and time-based references.

Also, who are the imaginary readers being placated here? The youth are obsessed with the 80's and 90's. I'm pretty sure they can handle hearing about VCRs and Victrolas.
