Specifically the version that is more just bored and lonely and wants Batman to solve and appreciate his puzzles.
Heck, The Riddler often works with Batman against dangerous foes and has saved his life a few times!

Thank god that recent Clayface film DID NOT copy what Sony did and used BTAS as its reference for the story.
(Haven't seen that movie though)

The Sinister 6 as a concept is a bunch of Spider-man villains getting together and being just “Let’s just fucking Jump Him!”

Just came back from Clayface and it's. ok.
Solid performances. The practical effects are the best part & there were nifty kills that make use of the R rating.
Writing-wise, it doesn't come anywhere close to BTAS for me

While BTAS is often considered a fantastic distillation of the Batman character and his mythos (which it is,) it wasn't free from tying into the wider franchise in specific and often frustrating ways.

They cohabitate. But slapping the animalistic, perverse Penguin design from Burton's movie on the wannabe crime boss of BTAS feels like you're getting your creative wires crossed. It's a case of "Well, I guess we'll TRY to make this happen."

I may be wrong but I remember Selina being March 1 (maybe it was the BtAS?) 🥲🥲🥲
But yes, you got it, March 1st!

Knowing this, it makes sense why the Penguin's schemes are a random array of annoyances rather than a thematic plague on Batman and Gotham. The Penguin is not a major Batman villain in BTAS. But he reaalllly wants to be.

It was good but I am upset that they didn’t keep Matt Hagen’s queerness from Btas
Yea not everything needs to be the same as Btas but Matt being gay and in the closet really added a lot to his character in my opinion

Debuting the same year as Batman Returns, showrunner Bruce Timm was asked to base his Penguin design on Tim Burton's. Now, plenty of BTAS' aesthetic is similar to what's found in the live action Batman films, but these honestly work in favor of the series.

BTAS excelled at ping-ponging Hagen as a sympathetic villain and the monster from the start. The movie tries its best with the sympathy bit, but I had a hard time trying to like this version of him
I'm vague posting out of courtesy, yap in my DMs if ya want bc I have opinions lol

Just got out, and I can easily say this is one of my favorite films.
Wastes no time with introducing Matt Hagan, short and sweet and gets us up to speed with him, and then right into the main plot. Easily digestable to non comic fans and comic fans will definitely see some notes taken from BTAS-

Then there's the inherent question of what to do with the Penguin. He's not a physical match for Batman. Some of his more ridiculous bird-themed quirks wouldn't fit into BTAS' noir setting. The horny angst he had in Returns can't be applied to the show.
He's a design without a character.

Note to comic fans - Marshall Rogers-inspired Joker, with a BTAS-inspired nugget.

No contest. Crime for the intellectual challenge of it, leaving clues to test my adversaries. Call me Girl Riddler—The Griddler… wait, that sounds like a pancake-themed villain, so maybe not. (The pancake-themed Griddler’s archnemesis is, of course, The Waffler)
