Un título infrecuente de Handel, Riccardo Primo, rè d’Inghilterra, y unos intérpretes excelentes hicieron de esta primera ópera en versión de concierto de la temporada 2026-2027 del Teatro Real todo un éxito. El reputado conjunto historicista Les Arts Florissants, de gira por Francia y España, a las órdenes de su codirector, Paul Agnew, acompañó de forma expresiva a los seis solistas, sin que decayese en ningún momento el interés, llevándose una ovación de pie al final. … El contratenor británico Hugh Cutting, inicialmente previsto en el pequeño papel de Oronte, sustituyó al anunciado Jakub Józef Orliński en el papel titular, escrito para Senesino, y firmó una actuación sobresaliente en todos los aspectos. Miembro de la 10.ª promoción (2021) de la academia bienal para jóvenes cantantes promovida por Les Arts Florissants, Le Jardin des Voix, no es ya una joven promesa sino un artista consolidado. Interpretó sin partitura, metido plenamente en el papel, diciendo los recitativos con gran teatralidad y cantando las cuatro arias que le quedaron con enorme entusiasmo y energía. El timbre es atractivo, carnoso, aclarándose en el agudo, que tiene un brillo especial. Su volumen y proyección le permiten imponerse a la orquesta y distinguirse en los conjuntos. Impresionó su vibrante “Agitato da fiere tempeste” del acto I, con su deslumbrante coloratura.

#YoungArtists Viel spannender eigentlich als das, was Rattle & Co. in ihren Abo-Serien treiben, sind die noch wenig bekannten jungen Künstler:innen, die auf dem Sprung sind zu großer Karriere. Die Bachtrack-Redakteurin hat zehn #Talente in den Fokus gestellt (mit Youtube-Ausschn.) für die Saison.
